    Talking Mike Dude's HK-Drone V2 Progress Update

This is the HK-Drone V1, made by me (Mike Dude)

    Updated as of 3/13/10
    Version 2 released HERE
Status Update 2 of Version 2 HERE
    Version 1 released HERE
Status Update 1 of Version 2 HERE

    Video of V1:

I wanted a VTOL craft with articulating thrusters just like the one from Terminator 3. So, I decided to build it. This uses 3 wired thrusters, axised/ballsocketed to the body. The ONLY external force that this uses is applyAngForce to change the thruster angle. Thats it. Hovering, stabilization, and maneuvering is all maintained by the thrusters' strengths and angles. The auto-stabilization system makes it fun and easy to fly around.

Here is a pic of what the real HK-Drone looks like from the movie http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/te..._Retracted.JPG

    Future Plans:
    1. Make it look like an actual HK-Drone
    2. Fix upside-down freakouts
    3. Add weapons
    4. Make it a chat controlled auto-anti-minge device

I will not release this yet so don't ask. This is Version 1. I will release it after I finish the first 3 things on the list. Unfortunately I don't have time to make a good tutorial, I barely get enough time to play gmod in college. If you want to see this baby in action, come to the [UFA] Public Build server. That is where I build my non-spacebuild stuff.

This is my first video and first contraption I have posted on Wiremod. All comments, thoughts, ideas are welcome.

Tell me, how did you control it? And how did you get your hands on the awesome thruster models?

I used the Adv. Pod Controller remote control. Instead of linking it to a vehicle, you can look at it and hold E for 2 seconds and it gives you a linked remote control. then just pull it out and press E and you can control the thing.

As for the thruster model, I just used one of the wheels from the PHX3 transportation props. Just right click on the picture of the prop you like in the spawn menu and copy to clip board. Then open console and type "wire_thruster_model PasteYoureModelNameHere" without the quotes. then bam, the next time you click with the thruster tool, you have your custom thruster model. You can even do the same thing with the sound emitter and expression 2 and just about everything else. Just make sure you dont have it set on mini or micro size for the model or you will get a big error that wont go away.
